Winter's Rest taps a creature and keeps it tapped as long as the enchanted permanent is a Snow card — which it becomes the moment this Aura lands. Outside of Snow synergy, it's a one-mana pacifism that requires upkeep to maintain; inside a Snow deck helmed by Isu the Abominable, it's a near-permanent lockdown piece that costs almost nothing.

Winter's Rest is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker — but only Commander and Pauper give it a real home. In Commander, the Snow tribal synergy with Jorn and Isu makes it a genuine role-player rather than a filler Aura. In Pauper, one-mana interaction is always worth examining, though Aura-based removal is fragile against bounce and removal, so it competes poorly with unconditional answers. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient interaction, and Winter's Rest will never see play there.
