Wild Research turns any enchantment deck's top-end mana into a repeatable tutor, fetching any enchantment or instant at sorcery speed for two mana — the catch is discarding a random card afterward. The discard is real, but in decks that want specific enchantments in play, the consistency gain outweighs the variance by a wide margin.

Commander is where Wild Research earns its keep, specifically in enchantress and Aura-centric builds that need to find silver bullets — Rhythm of the Wild, Privileged Position, Smothering Tithe — on demand. Legacy permits it, but the random discard is a steep price in a format where card advantage is razor-tight and tutors that don't cost you anything are plentiful. Vintage has the same problem amplified. Wild Research is playable only in Commander, where the slower pace and the density of must-answer enchantments make the discard clause an acceptable tax.

Price Context
Current price
$2.34 cheap tier
At $2.34, Wild Research sits firmly in budget territory for what it does — repeatable tutoring is normally priced much higher. The low price reflects its narrow application: it only rewards decks built to use it, so demand stays moderate and the price is unlikely to spike without a high-profile enchantress commander pushing it into the spotlight.
