Web Up taps a creature and prevents it from untapping — instant-speed pseudo-removal that keeps a blocker or mana dork locked down for a full turn cycle. It's a narrow spell that earns its slot almost exclusively in Miles Morales decks, where the Spider-Man synergy tag does mechanical work.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy
Miles Morales
Miles Morales triggers off Spider-Man spells, and Web Up is one of the cheapest ways to trigger that engine while also neutralizing an attacker or blocker mid-combat.
Peter Parker
Peter Parker similarly rewards casting Spider-Man-subtyped spells, making Web Up a low-cost way to accrue value while keeping an opponent's key creature tapped down.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Web Up is legal across every major format, but it only sees play in Commander — specifically in Spider-Man-themed decks built around Miles Morales or Peter Parker. In competitive formats like Modern, Legacy, or Vintage, tapping a single creature at instant speed for one mana is simply too low-impact; Cryptic Command and Stern Scolding are doing real work at similar points on the curve. In Standard and Pioneer, Web Up technically has a home but no supporting cast outside Limited. Commander is its format because the Spider-Man subtype tag creates a reason to cast it beyond the tapping effect alone.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Web Up is deep bulk — it's priced exactly like what it is: a narrow, theme-dependent spell with a tiny competitive footprint. Don't expect that to change unless Spider-Man Commander archetypes spike in popularity, and even then the ceiling is low.
