Weathered Sentinels card art
Weathered Sentinels hits the board as a high-toughness defender that draws a card when it enters — raw value stapled to a body that blocks all day. The cost is real: it only belongs in decks that specifically reward defenders or care about toughness, and outside those shells it's unplayable.

01
Felothar the Steadfast

Felothar the Steadfast

83.1% of decks · synergy 0.73

Felothar the Steadfast is the premier home for Weathered Sentinels — Felothar's ability to turn defenders into an attacking army means every wall that draws a card on entry is also a future threat.

02
Arcades, the Strategist

Arcades, the Strategist

57.1% of decks · synergy 0.53

Arcades, the Strategist lets Weathered Sentinels attack with its full toughness, so a big-butted blocker that replaces itself is exactly the kind of card-efficient threat the deck wants stacked on the board.

Format Analysis

FormatVerdict
commander

modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Weathered Sentinels is a Commander card through and through — the 100-card singleton format is the only place where dedicated defender/toughness synergy commanders exist in enough density to make it a genuine staple. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but irrelevant; competitive decks in those formats have no interest in a slow, synergy-dependent wall. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander, so it's playable there if you're running a toughness-matters planeswalker strategy. Everywhere else — Modern, Pioneer, Standard, Pauper — it's not legal, and given the power bar in those formats it wouldn't see play if it were.

Price Context

Current price

unknown tier

Pricing data for Weathered Sentinels isn't available yet, which likely means it's a recent release still finding its market level. Given its narrow synergy range — almost exclusively defender and toughness-matters Commander decks — expect it to settle as a low-to-mid budget pickup rather than a premium card.
