Wanderlust drains the enchanted creature's controller for 1 life at the start of their upkeep — slow, enchantment-fragile, and replaceable by almost any other green enchantment at this cost. It belongs in a dedicated Auras or enchantress shell or not at all.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Wanderlust is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but the format where it sees any real play is Pauper, where enchantress-style grind strategies can squeeze incremental life loss into a viable win condition. In Commander, one damage per turn across four opponents is too slow to matter unless the deck is built entirely around enchantment synergies — think Sythis, Harvest's Hand or Tuvasa the Sunlit shells that want bodies on the board just to trigger draw engines. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in Wanderlust when faster, more impactful enchantments exist at the same or lower cost.
