Wall of Nets locks down the biggest threat on the board every turn it's untapped — a 0/4 defender that exiles attackers until it leaves play is a serious political and defensive tool. In Arcades, the Strategist decks it also swings for 4, making it one of the few pieces of interaction that doubles as a win condition.

Arcades, the Strategist
Arcades, the Strategist turns Wall of Nets into a 0/4 attacker that exiles whatever it blocks on defense — the same card handles both your offense and your opponent's biggest threat, which is exactly the kind of double-duty Arcades lists want.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Wall of Nets sees essentially zero competitive play in Legacy or Vintage despite being legal — the formats move too fast for a three-mana do-nothing-until-combat blocker to matter. Commander is its natural home, where the game slows down enough for its exile trigger to accumulate real value and where a 0/4 body in Arcades, the Strategist decks becomes a meaningful attacker. Oathbreaker is similarly viable for the same reasons, but the card's home is unambiguously Commander.

Budget Alternatives
Cheaper options that do most of the same work
Fog Bank and Glacial Wall hit similar defensive ceilings at a fraction of the price, though neither exiles — you're trading the removal upside for pure budget savings. If the exile clause is the point, Guard Gomazoa comes closest at roughly the same cost and also plays well in Arcades lists.
Price Context
Current price
$5.36 mid tier
At $5.36, Wall of Nets sits in the mid tier — noticeable for a single card with limited printings and a narrow home in Arcades decks. It holds its price through scarcity rather than demand, so if a reprint lands, expect that floor to drop fast.
