Volcanic Geyser

In Commander, Volcanic Geyser is a late-game mana sink in decks that generate large amounts of red mana — it can close out a game or remove a planeswalker, but it competes with Comet Storm, which hits multiple targets for the same cost structure. In Legacy and Vintage, scalable burn has never been the plan; faster, more efficient spells make Volcanic Geyser invisible in those formats. Modern and Pioneer have better options at every point on the curve, so it sees no meaningful play there. The honest verdict: Volcanic Geyser is a Commander-only card, and even there only in shells explicitly built around X spells or massive mana generation.
