Viridian Shaman destroys an artifact on entry and leaves a 2/2 body behind — the effect is real, the three-mana cost is the whole conversation. Better options exist at two mana, so run it only when you need redundancy or a creature type matters.

In Commander, Viridian Shaman competes in a crowded field of artifact removal stapled to creatures, and three mana for a 2/2 is a tough sell when Reclamation Sage and Caustic Caterpillar exist. It earns a slot in Elf tribal builds where the creature type has mechanical weight, or in decks running enough flicker and recursion to chain the enters-the-battlefield trigger repeatedly. In Legacy and Vintage the card is legal but entirely outclassed — no competitive shell wants a three-mana 2/2 when faster, cheaper answers are everywhere. Commander is the only format where Viridian Shaman occasionally pulls its weight, and even there it's a budget redundancy piece rather than a first choice.

$0.31 bulk tier
At $0.31, Viridian Shaman is deep bulk — easy to pick up in a trade binder or throw into a cart with no financial hesitation. Don't expect that to change; the card has no scarcity angle and faces permanent competition from cheaper, more versatile alternatives.
