Vigilant Sentry is a vanilla 2/3 with vigilance — it blocks and attacks without tapping, and that's the entire résumé. At three mana for a statline any Limited common would be embarrassed by, it has no place in a Commander deck.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Vigilant Sentry is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but legal and playable are different words. In Pauper it competes with commons that actually do something — a vanilla body at three mana doesn't make cuts when Llanowar Elves and Kor Skyfisher exist. In Legacy and Vintage the card is an afterthought; no competitive shell wants a 2/3 with no text. Commander is the format most likely to tolerate filler, and even there Vigilant Sentry offers nothing a dozen better three-drops don't — vigilance is a keyword you get for free on better cards, not a reason to run this one.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Vigilant Sentry is deep bulk — the kind of card that ends up in a draft chaff pile. The price is fair and will stay there; there is no sleeper upside on a vanilla creature with no combo relevance.
