Unnatural Hunger lands on a creature and ticks that creature's power down by one at each end step until it dies, then rewards you with a 3/3 token — repeatable attrition stapled to a payoff. Five mana is a real ask for an enchantment-based removal spell, and it's trivially answered by enchantment removal before the drain resolves even once.
Format Analysis

Commander is the only format where Unnatural Hunger is realistically played, and even there it sits on the fringe. The five-mana investment is steep for removal that operates on a delay, though enchantment-based decks running Tasha, the Witch Queen or similar token-generators can extract value from the 3/3 it eventually produces. Legacy and Vintage have the card legal but would never touch it — both formats run removal so efficient that a five-mana sorcery-speed enchantment is unplayable. Commander remains its only plausible home, and even there it competes poorly against unconditional removal at the same cost.

Price Context
Current price
$0.65 bulk tier
At $0.65, Unnatural Hunger is firmly bulk — priced about right for a card with narrow competitive application. Don't expect the price to move; there's no breakout commander or combo line that makes this a must-include.
