Unnatural Growth card art
Unnatural Growth doubles the size of every creature you control at the start of each combat — not once, but every combat step, on every turn. Five mana is steep, but commanders like Bello, Bard of the Brambles turn that investment into a one-shot clock within a single attack.

01
Bello, Bard of the Brambles

Bello, Bard of the Brambles

89.6% of decks · synergy 0.65

Bello, Bard of the Brambles cares about the base power and toughness of Elementals, and Unnatural Growth's doubling effect stacks multiplicatively with that — creatures that were already large become lethal in a single swing.

02
Ruxa, Patient Professor

Ruxa, Patient Professor

73.8% of decks · synergy 0.51

Ruxa, Patient Professor rewards vanilla creatures, and Unnatural Growth gives that otherwise underpowered board a doubling effect that scales with every creature simultaneously, turning a wide vanilla army into a one-hit kill.

03
Jasmine Boreal of the Seven

Jasmine Boreal of the Seven

56.9% of decks · synergy 0.50

Jasmine Boreal of the Seven builds around vanilla creatures with high base stats, and Unnatural Growth's doubling turns those already-large bodies into threats that end games before opponents can stabilize.

04
Wolverine, Best There Is

Wolverine, Best There Is

69.0% of decks · synergy 0.44

Wolverine, Best There Is wants a single creature to deal lethal damage fast, and Unnatural Growth's doubling before combat makes that a realistic turn-5 or turn-6 threat even without other pump.

05
The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride

43.7% of decks · synergy 0.41

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride attacks and grows through counters, and Unnatural Growth compounds that growth by doubling the full power and toughness before each combat step, making Gitrog exponentially harder to block profitably.

Commander is where Unnatural Growth actually lives — five mana is acceptable in a 40-life format where games go long enough for the enchantment to pay off across multiple turns and multiple opponents' combat steps. In Modern and Pioneer it's a non-starter; five mana for a do-nothing-until-attack enchantment is too slow against decks that are winning on turns three and four. Legacy and Vintage are theoretically legal but offer no meaningful home — format staples don't support a slow green enchantment that requires a board presence to do anything. Unnatural Growth is a Commander card through and through, and its 89% inclusion rate in Bello, Bard of the Brambles decks makes that verdict concrete.
