Undercity's Embrace trades a creature and gives you 3 life for the privilege — a sorcery-speed edict with a negligible upside stapled on. At one black mana and a sacrifice, it's only worth running when your deck actively wants to feed the graveyard or trigger sacrifice payoffs.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Undercity's Embrace competes in a crowded field of sacrifice-based removal, and sorcery speed with opponent's choice of creature makes it one of the weakest options — run Dictate of Erebos or Grave Pact if you want sacrifice to do real work. In Pauper, where the card pool is shallow and life totals matter more, the 3-life clause is marginally more relevant, but edict effects are still outclassed by Chainer's Edict with its flashback. Across Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, Undercity's Embrace doesn't make the cut — those formats demand instant-speed interaction or unconditional removal, and this provides neither. It's legal in all of those formats, but legal and playable are different things.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Undercity's Embrace is deep bulk — you'll find it in a common box at the bottom of a vendor table. Don't expect that price to move; demand is too low to push it anywhere.
