In Commander, Turn to Slag earns a narrow slot in red decks that need answers to Equipment-heavy threats like Swords and Shields on a commander — the two-for-one justifies the five mana better in a 40-life format with bigger boards. In Pauper, it's technically legal but far too slow; red has cheaper removal at common that doesn't require a target to be suited up. Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy have enough efficient spot removal that Turn to Slag never competes on rate.
