Treasure Trove is a repeatable blue card draw engine that costs four mana to cast and two blue mana each activation — slow, expensive, and outclassed by virtually every draw spell printed in the last decade. It saw play before better options existed; today it doesn't make the cut in any competitive Commander list.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Treasure Trove is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but seeing play in none of them competitively. In Commander, the format where slow repeatable draw is most forgiving, it still loses the slot to Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, or even cheaper activatable options like Arcanis the Omnipotent. Legacy and Vintage move far too fast for a four-mana do-nothing enchantment with an additional tax every time you use it. Oathbreaker's smaller deck size and faster games make it even less appealing there.
