In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, it's too slow to be a mainboard staple: three artifacts entering in a single turn is a meaningful setup cost when the game ends by turn four, though artifact synergy decks could theoretically use it as a sideboard or casual build piece. Legacy and Vintage have faster, more broken artifact engines and no reason to spend two mana on a creature generator that takes turns to pay off. Standard is where it sees the most competitive interest outside Commander, particularly in any format window where artifact-creature synergies are well-supported by the legal card pool.
