Third Path Iconoclast turns every noncreature spell into a free 1/1 token, and at two mana it asks almost nothing in return. Storm-Kiln Artist gets more press, but Iconoclast costs one less and doesn't need the storm count to scale — Magnus the Red decks that run both are simply doubling their token output every time they cast an instant or sorcery.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Magnus the Red
Magnus the Red's ability pumps every token you make, so each noncreature spell Third Path Iconoclast converts into a Warrior is immediately a larger body — the two cards form a self-reinforcing loop that can close a game out of nowhere.

Narset, Enlightened Exile
Narset, Enlightened Exile triggers on attacking and casts spells from graveyards, meaning Third Path Iconoclast converts those free casts into a growing Warrior army alongside Narset's own pump.

Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy
Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy cares about artifact tokens, but Third Path Iconoclast floods the board with creature tokens that keep Gimbal's artifact-cast triggers firing while also providing sacrifice fodder.

Balmor, Battlemage Captain
Balmor, Battlemage Captain pumps creatures each time you cast a noncreature spell, so every Third Path Iconoclast trigger produces a token that immediately receives that bonus — a spell that draws a card, creates a token, and buffs your board all at once.

Shiko and Narset, Unified
Shiko and Narset, Unified generate value by casting spells repeatedly, and Third Path Iconoclast converts each of those spell casts into a Warrior token that scales with the deck's wide-board gameplan.

In Commander, Third Path Iconoclast is a two-mana engine piece in any Izzet or Jeskai spellslinger build — cheap enough to land early and impactful enough to snowball through the game. In Modern and Legacy, it slots into prowess-adjacent shells and Young Pyromancer strategies as a redundant threat that trades one mana off the original but produces the same token economy. Pioneer sees it in similar roles, though the format's lower spell velocity makes it a step below the top tier. Across every format where it's legal, the read is the same: low floor, no ceiling.

$0.35 bulk tier
At $0.35, Third Path Iconoclast is firmly bulk, and that price is not going anywhere given its wide print run and consistent reprint accessibility. It's the kind of card you pick up four copies of on a whim — the cost of a pack is basically noise.
