Commander is the only format where The Spear of Leonidas is doing real work — specifically in Assassin and Warrior tribal decks built around the Assassin's Creed card pool. It's technically legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but none of those formats have any reason to run a three-mana Equipment with a narrow tap ability when far more efficient options exist. Oathbreaker is the one fringe case where a thematic Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos build might slot it in, but even there it's a flavor call more than an optimization.
