Tezzeret the Schemer enters at four mana and immediately makes an Etherium Cell token, then ticks up to threaten a lethal ultimate by turn three of loyalty — that's real board presence for the cost. The catch is that his +1 and −2 both lean hard on artifacts being in play, so outside an artifact-dense shell (think Time Sieve territory), the payoff collapses fast.

Commander is where Tezzeret the Schemer does his best work, slotting into artifact-focused decks that can exploit the Etherium Cell tokens for sacrifice fodder, mana, or combo fuel. In Legacy and Vintage, four mana is a steep ask when faster, more impactful planeswalkers exist, and his abilities don't match the raw power those formats demand. Modern and Pioneer treat him similarly — playable in theory, but the artifact synergy payoffs available there don't justify his slot over more efficient options. Oathbreaker is the sleeper format for him, where he can serve as the planeswalker commander of an artifact combo deck and reach his ultimate under less pressure.

Pricing data isn't available at the moment, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a current figure. Tezzeret the Schemer has historically sat in the budget-to-mid range for planeswalkers — narrow enough in application to keep demand low, but desirable enough in artifact EDH builds that copies move steadily.
