Territorial Dispute locks every player into sacrificing a land each upkeep or forfeiting their combat step — at six mana, it shuts down creature-based strategies cold. It's a prison piece for decks that either don't attack or can replace their land sacrifices, and a dead card in anything else.

Territorial Dispute is a Commander card through and through — the six-mana cost and symmetrical lock effect are too slow and too political for Legacy or Vintage, where the game ends before the table feels the squeeze. In Commander, it earns a slot in stax and land-recursion shells where you can exempt yourself from the cost: decks running Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, or similar recursion simply replay the sacrificed land and watch opponents choose between attacking and keeping their mana base intact. Outside those builds, the symmetry is punishing enough that it hurts you as much as the table. Oathbreaker is legal but the two-player dynamic strips away the political leverage that makes Territorial Dispute interesting.

Price Context
Current price
$0.44 bulk tier
At $0.44, Territorial Dispute sits firmly in bulk territory — low enough that picking up a copy is a no-brainer if your stax build wants it. Niche prison enchantments at this price point rarely spike unless a commander printing dramatically raises demand, so expect it to stay cheap.
