Tarox Bladewing hits the table as a 4/3 flying, haste dragon that can pump itself to absurd power via its Grandeur ability — but that ability requires discarding another copy of Tarox Bladewing, which is a dead-end ask in singleton formats. Outside of 60-card environments where you can actually run four copies, the ceiling is a hasty 4/3 flyer for five mana, which doesn't justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Tarox Bladewing is a mediocre inclusion — five mana for a 4/3 flying haste body is passable in dragon tribal under Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm or The Ur-Dragon, but Grandeur is completely non-functional in singleton, leaving you with a vanilla-ish beater. Legacy and Vintage are the only formats where Tarox Bladewing does what it was designed to do, since you can run four copies and discard a redundant one to spike power to 7 or higher before swinging; still, neither format has any interest in a five-mana creature that needs setup to close. Modern is technically legal but the card sees no competitive play there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.43 bulk tier
At $0.43, Tarox Bladewing sits firmly in bulk rare territory and that price reflects the demand accurately. Don't expect movement — Grandeur is a mechanic with no modern support, and nothing on the horizon rehabilitates this card's value.
