Synapse Sliver card art
Synapse Sliver turns every Sliver that hits the battlefield into a draw trigger — in a tribe that floods the board fast, that translates to a substantial card advantage engine stapled to a five-mana body. The cost is real: five mana is a lot to ask before the effect starts, and a sweeper in response undoes all of it.

The First Sliver cascades on every Sliver cast, which means the deck is constantly putting new Slivers into play — and every one of those triggers Synapse Sliver, turning the cascade chain into a draw engine that refuels the hand in real time.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Synapse Sliver actually lives: 100-card decks need sustained card advantage, Sliver tribal runs enough bodies to make each draw trigger count, and the singleton format means you're not leaning on redundancy anyway. Legacy and Vintage both allow it, but Sliver tribal isn't a competitive archetype in either format, and a five-mana do-nothing-on-entry creature has no home in those environments. Oathbreaker is legal and theoretically playable if a Sliver-adjacent commander ever becomes the right call, but in practice this is a Commander card through and through.

Pricing data isn't available in this snapshot, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the current market rate. Synapse Sliver is a casual staple with a narrow home, so it tends to sit in the budget-to-mid range — worth picking up whenever you're building Slivers rather than hunting for a deal.
