Sword of the Squeak equips for free onto a Mouse or Squirrel you control, then generates a 1/1 Squirrel token whenever the equipped creature deals combat damage — a repeating token engine stapled to a zero-equip-cost body buff. Mabel, Heir to Cragflame shows up in over half of all Sword of the Squeak decks for good reason: the sword is purpose-built for her, and the two pieces together make every attack a threat.

Mabel, Heir to Cragflame
Mabel, Heir to Cragflame is the defining home for Sword of the Squeak — she's a Mouse, so the sword equips free, and every swing that connects generates a Squirrel to feed back into her scaling power.

Hazel of the Rootbloom
Hazel of the Rootbloom's token-doubling and creature-enters triggers turn every Squirrel the Sword of the Squeak generates into a compounding advantage engine, making the combat-damage trigger worth far more than a single 1/1.

Chatterfang, Squirrel General
Chatterfang, Squirrel General copies every Squirrel token produced, so the single token Sword of the Squeak generates per combat hit immediately becomes two — a clean doubler on the sword's payoff.

Camellia, the Seedmiser
Camellia, the Seedmiser draws a card each time a Squirrel enters the battlefield, turning Sword of the Squeak's combat-damage trigger into repeatable card advantage every attack step.

Sokka and Suki
Sokka and Suki rewards repeated creature production with strategic payoffs, and Sword of the Squeak's reliable Squirrel generation on each successful attack fits cleanly into that accumulation gameplan.
Format Analysis

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Sword of the Squeak is a Commander card through and through — the free equip cost onto tribal creatures and the token-generating combat trigger are both tuned for a multiplayer game where incremental advantage compounds over many turns. In Legacy and Vintage, it's technically legal but competes in environments where a two-mana equipment that asks you to connect in combat is simply too slow and conditional to see serious play. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it could show up, and a Squirrel or Mouse-adjacent signature spell shell could make it work, but the card's ceiling is firmly in Commander's 100-card tribal builds.

Price Context
Current price
$2.17 cheap tier
At $2.17, Sword of the Squeak sits in the cheap tier — low enough to be an easy include in any Mouse or Squirrel build without a second thought. Its price is stable as long as Mabel, Heir to Cragflame and the surrounding tribal support remain popular, which they show no signs of stopping.
