Swashbuckling slaps +2/+2 and haste onto any creature for two mana at instant speed, which is a real rate for an aggressive red deck that needs to push damage through immediately. It's an aura, though — card disadvantage baked in — so you run it in decks that either abuse enchantments or genuinely need the haste that badly.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Swashbuckling is a fringe inclusion at best — auras that don't replace themselves are a liability in a four-player format where one removal spell puts you down two cards. The exceptions are enchantress-style builds and commanders that specifically reward suiting up one creature, like Uril, the Miststalker or Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale, where the enchantment subtype does real work. In Pauper it's strictly outclassed by pump spells that don't stick to a creature. Competitive formats like Modern and Legacy don't want it either — the best decks there are winning on a different axis entirely.
