Suplex card art
Suplex deals damage equal to a creature's power to another target creature — removal and combat trick fused into one card. Cloud, Planet's Champion decks run it because it scales with the oversized stats that strategy naturally produces, making it efficient interaction that pulls double duty.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Cloud, Planet's Champion

Cloud, Planet's Champion

27.2% of decks · synergy 0.26

Cloud, Planet's Champion pushes creatures to enormous power levels, and Suplex converts that stat inflation directly into removal — killing a blocker or finishing off a threat without needing to attack into it.

02

Kuja, Genome Sorcerer

23.4% of decks · synergy 0.21

Kuja, Genome Sorcerer cares about spell-slinging and value generation, and Suplex slots in as cheap, scalable interaction that keeps the board clear without demanding a dedicated creature slot.

03
Black Waltz No. 3

Black Waltz No. 3

21.0% of decks · synergy 0.18

Black Waltz No. 3 runs a spells-matter shell where every instant and sorcery contributes, and Suplex earns its place as low-cost removal that triggers those payoffs while answering threats.

04

Clive, Ifrit's Dominant

15.8% of decks · synergy 0.13

Clive, Ifrit's Dominant builds around big-power creatures, so Suplex functions as a precision removal spell that gets stronger the better the board state is already going.

In Commander, Suplex fills a niche as cheap instant-speed removal that scales with the power of your own creatures — the bigger your board, the more threatening targets it can one-shot. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern and Legacy, it sees almost no play because sorcery-speed equivalents like Prey Upon have already failed to crack those formats, and Suplex doesn't offer enough additional upside to change that calculus. Standard and Pioneer could theoretically support it in stompy builds, but the card hasn't made a dent there either. Pauper is its best non-Commander home in theory — cheap interaction is always welcome — though the format has stronger options at the same price point.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Suplex is bulk — you're not paying a premium for this slot, and there's no financial risk to picking up copies. Bulk rares and commons at this price tier rarely appreciate unless a format breaks them open, so treat it as a cheap role-player rather than a spec.
