In Commander, Suffocating Blast punches above its weight — countering a game-winning spell while killing a utility creature in response is exactly the kind of blowout three-mana can buy you in a four-player game. Legacy allows it, but the format's threat density and the prevalence of zero- and one-mana spells make it too narrow for serious consideration; Counterspell and Fatal Push cover those roles cleaner and cheaper.
