Strength of Isolation grants ward 2 and a +1/+1 counter to an enchanted creature — solid protection at the cost of an aura's inherent two-for-one risk. It earns its slot only if the deck already wants enchantments on creatures for some secondary payoff, otherwise a straight protection spell does the job cheaper.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Strength of Isolation is a niche but functional piece in dedicated aura-voltron builds where the enchantment subtype itself generates value — outside that context, ward 2 alone doesn't justify the aura risk at three mana. Legacy and Vintage have the card legal but no competitive home; the formats are too fast and too tuned for a three-mana aura that doesn't win the game on its own. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: synergy-dependent, playable in the right 60-card enchantress shell, irrelevant elsewhere.

Price Context
Current price
$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Strength of Isolation is firmly bulk — you're not paying a premium for this effect. It's unlikely to climb in price without a dedicated enchantress precon or reprint attention, so pick it up freely if the deck calls for it and don't worry about the buy-in.
