Strange Augmentation puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature and can put a second one if delirium is active — two counters for one black mana is the floor-to-ceiling range on this card. It earns a slot only in dedicated delirium or graveyard-type-diversity builds; everywhere else, it's outclassed by spells that do more at the same cost.

In Commander, Strange Augmentation is a niche role-player in delirium decks that consistently stock the graveyard with multiple card types — think Golgari self-mill strategies where hitting four types by turn three is routine. In Pauper it sees the most competitive light, where cheap delirium enablers are plentiful and a two-counter pump spell on a threat can close damage races. Modern and Pioneer have enough density of better payoffs that Strange Augmentation rarely makes the cut outside of budget brews. Legacy and Vintage simply have no room for it.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Strange Augmentation is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not the effect. Price stability is a non-issue; it will sit at this floor as long as it has no breakout moment in a widely-played deck.
