Standing Troops is a 2/3 defender for three mana with vigilance — a statline that trades poorly in combat and does nothing on attack, which is the fundamental problem. Vigilance on a wall is a near-meaningless bonus, and three mana is too steep for a creature that only ever blocks.

Standing Troops is unplayed across every format it's legal in, and for good reason — a 2/3 defender at three mana doesn't clear the bar in Commander, Pauper, or anywhere else. In Commander, defensive bodies without a relevant ability, combo role, or tribal tag don't earn a slot, and Standing Troops has none of those. Pauper has access to genuinely powerful commons at every point on the curve, so a vanilla-adjacent wall doesn't compete. The vigilance rider would matter on an aggressive creature, but on a defender it's irrelevant by definition.

Price data isn't available for Standing Troops, but as a bulk common with no competitive application, it realistically sits at under $0.10 in most collections. There's no reason to seek it out — if you need a defensive body, the format has better options at the same or lower cost.
