Spawnsire of Ulamog card art
Spawnsire of Ulamog floods the board with Eldrazi Spawn tokens and, for twenty mana, wins the game outright by pulling every Eldrazi you own from outside the game. The cost is steep and the card is slow, but pair it with Ashnod's Altar and the Spawn tokens pay for the activation themselves.

Commander is the only format where Spawnsire of Ulamog's twenty-mana ability is a realistic win condition — longer games, more ramp, and the singleton rule make the outside-the-game clause a genuine payoff rather than a joke. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but unplayable; the mana requirement is absurd in formats where the game ends on turn two. Modern has the same problem: no shell can realistically generate twenty colorless mana and survive long enough to use it. Spawnsire of Ulamog belongs in Commander, full stop.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Spawnsire of Ulamog's token-generation role can be covered more cheaply by Eldrazi Devastator or Bane of Bala Ged, though neither produces Spawn tokens for sacrifice fodder. If it's the mana-generation loop you want rather than the ultimate, Brood Monitor fills a similar function in combo shells at a fraction of the cost, with the trade-off that you lose the game-ending activated ability entirely.

Price Context

Current price

$6.59 mid tier

At $6.59, Spawnsire of Ulamog sits in the mid tier — affordable enough to slot into most Eldrazi builds without budget pain. Demand is narrow but stable; it sees consistent play in Eldrazi Commander decks and has enough combo relevance to hold that price floor.
