Solarion card art
Solarion doubles its own power and toughness every turn it untaps — hit ten power, swing for twenty, hit twenty, swing for forty — all on a single card with no outside assistance. The ten-mana cost is the catch, but Agatha's Soul Cauldron can export the untap-triggered ability to a cheaper creature, making the ceiling absurd even if the floor is slow.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Solarion is actually playable — ramp strategies, cost-reduction commanders, and untap engines all exist to get a ten-drop onto the battlefield and keep it alive. In Legacy and Vintage, ten mana is a non-starter outside of dedicated Show and Tell or Sneak Attack shells, and even there Solarion competes with strictly more threatening finishers. Modern has no realistic path to casting it fairly, and the formats where it's not legal at all are no loss.

Price Context

Current price

$0.54 bulk tier

At $0.54, Solarion is deep bulk — the price reflects its narrow playability, not any latent value. It's unlikely to move unless an untap-combo deck breaks into the mainstream spotlight, so grab copies cheaply if the combo appeals to you and don't expect the price to budge.
