Slither Blade card art
Slither Blade connects every turn for one mana — unblockable creatures at this price point are the backbone of combat-based draw and ninjutsu engines. Edric, Spymaster of Trest turns each hit into a free card, and Medomai the Ageless becomes obscenely dangerous the moment it stops being blockable.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Edric, Spymaster of Trest

Edric, Spymaster of Trest

78.0% of decks · synergy 0.77

Slither Blade is one of the best one-drops in any Edric, Spymaster of Trest deck — a guaranteed hit every turn translates directly into a card drawn, and at one mana it frees up the rest of your curve for more evasive threats.

03
Anowon, the Ruin Thief

Anowon, the Ruin Thief

84.4% of decks · synergy 0.72

Anowon, the Ruin Thief mills opponents on each unblocked Rogue attack, and Slither Blade is a Rogue that will never be stopped — it's an unconditional mill trigger stapled to a one-mana body.

04
Satoru Umezawa

Satoru Umezawa

80.7% of decks · synergy 0.69

Satoru Umezawa gives every creature in hand ninjutsu when you connect with an unblocked attacker, so Slither Blade is effectively a one-mana enabler that lets you cheat any creature into play as early as turn two.

05
Vnwxt, Verbose Host

Vnwxt, Verbose Host

65.0% of decks · synergy 0.62

Slither Blade gives Vnwxt, Verbose Host a reliable, near-unkillable combat trigger each turn, feeding whatever engine the deck builds around consistent unblocked damage.

Commander is where Slither Blade earns its keep — ninjutsu, combat-damage triggers, and go-wide evasion strategies all want a one-mana creature that will never be stopped. In Pauper it sees fringe play in aggressive blue shells looking for cheap evasive bodies, though it rarely displaces more impactful one-drops. Modern and Pioneer have enough cheap interaction and efficient threats that Slither Blade doesn't make the cut outside of dedicated unblockable synergy builds, which aren't currently competitive. Legacy and Vintage simply have no room for a vanilla-statted creature with no immediate board impact beyond evasion.

Price Context

Current price

$0.76 bulk tier

At $0.76, Slither Blade sits at the high end of bulk — it costs more than most comparable one-mana commons purely because demand from Commander is real and steady. The price is justified for the role it plays; don't expect it to drop meaningfully as long as ninjutsu and combat-trigger commanders remain popular.
