Silver-Fur Master card art
Silver-Fur Master gives every Ninja and Rogue you control +1/+1 and makes their activated abilities cost one generic less — a lords-plus-discount package that rewards you for building around a specific creature type rather than a strategy. Satoru Umezawa and Splinter, Radical Rat decks run it in almost every list because the cost reduction hits ninjutsu itself, letting you sneak in expensive threats ahead of schedule.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Splinter, Radical Rat

Splinter, Radical Rat

83.6% of decks · synergy 0.82

Silver-Fur Master's cost reduction applies to Splinter, Radical Rat's own activated abilities, which means the engine Splinter runs to blink and recur Rogues gets cheaper every turn it's in play — 84% of Splinter lists include it for exactly that reason.

02
Satoru Umezawa

Satoru Umezawa

86.4% of decks · synergy 0.75

Satoru Umezawa turns every creature into a ninjutsu threat, and Silver-Fur Master shaves one mana off every ninjutsu activation, letting you deploy massive creatures several turns before you otherwise could.

03
Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow

Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow

78.1% of decks · synergy 0.67

Silver-Fur Master is in 78% of Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow lists because cheaper ninjutsu means more triggers per turn cycle — the discount directly translates into more damage off Yuriko's ability.

04
Goro-Goro and Satoru

Goro-Goro and Satoru

53.6% of decks · synergy 0.52

Goro-Goro and Satoru leans on expensive ninjutsu creatures to generate Dragon tokens, and Silver-Fur Master's cost reduction makes those high-ninjutsu activations consistently reachable on curve.

05
Satoru, the Infiltrator

Satoru, the Infiltrator

45.3% of decks · synergy 0.34

Silver-Fur Master stacks with Satoru, the Infiltrator's draw-on-unblocked gameplan by letting you cycle through more ninjutsu activations per game, stretching resources further across a long combat chain.

Silver-Fur Master is a Commander card first and foremost — the Ninja and Rogue type density required to make it matter simply doesn't exist in competitive older-format metagames. In Modern and Legacy, tribal Ninja shells are fringe at best, and the two-mana 2/2 body doesn't justify inclusion without a critical mass of type overlap. Pioneer is legal but the same problem applies: the creatures that benefit are scattered across sets with no competitive anchor. Commander is where Silver-Fur Master operates at full power, plugging into a well-supported tribal infrastructure with multiple strong commanders who make the cost reduction genuinely back-breaking.

Price Context

Current price

$0.91 bulk tier

At $0.91, Silver-Fur Master sits at the top of the bulk tier despite being an auto-include in several of the most-built Commander archetypes. That price is unlikely to climb significantly given the card's narrow tribal application, but for what it does in the right deck, under a dollar is an easy ask.
