Silumgar Assassin card art
Silumgar Assassin kills a creature with power 3 or less the moment it enters — and with megamorph, it does it face-down for two mana and reveals itself only when the removal lands. In Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer shells the first morph each turn is free, so you're often getting a removal spell stapled to a 2/1 deathtouch body at zero additional cost.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer

Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer

74.9% of decks · synergy 0.73

Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer draws a card the first time you cast a face-down creature each turn, so Silumgar Assassin enters free in that slot — you get the removal trigger, a deathtouch blocker, and a card, all for two mana.

02
Etrata, Deadly Fugitive

Etrata, Deadly Fugitive

55.7% of decks · synergy 0.55

Etrata, Deadly Fugitive cares about assembling a team of Assassins with different names, and Silumgar Assassin checks that box while pulling double duty as a repeatable removal piece when the morph is flipped up or cast face-up.

03
Ramses, Assassin Lord

Ramses, Assassin Lord

27.1% of decks · synergy 0.26

Ramses, Assassin Lord pumps every Assassin you control and wins the game outright if one deals combat damage to an opponent, so Silumgar Assassin contributes a deathtouch body that clears blockers and counts toward the tribe's critical mass.

04
Missy

Missy

15.2% of decks · synergy 0.15

Missy tutors up Assassins and benefits from a wide roster of them, making Silumgar Assassin a clean inclusion — it's a removal piece that also pads the Assassin count she needs to dig through.

Commander is where Silumgar Assassin does its best work — morph synergies, Assassin tribal, and the face-down game plan all live primarily in that format. In Legacy, Pioneer, and Modern it's legal but functionally irrelevant; two mana for conditional removal on a 2/1 doesn't compete with the efficient interaction available at those power levels. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander and could support a morph or tribal build if you're constructing around it. Outside of Commander, treat Silumgar Assassin as an unplayed card in competitive lists.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Silumgar Assassin is deep bulk — easy to acquire as a throw-in or cheap pickup. Bulk mythics and rares with narrow tribal homes rarely move on price, so don't expect this to appreciate, but at that entry point it's essentially free to include in any deck that wants it.
