Ramses, Assassin Lord card art
Ramses, Assassin Lord turns every Assassin that connects into a potential instant-speed kill — if any opponent dies during your turn, you win on the spot. The cost is building around a tribal type with narrow support, but Ezio Auditore da Firenze shells made that investment worthwhile the moment those cards printed.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Ezio Auditore da Firenze

Ezio Auditore da Firenze

77.4% of decks · synergy 0.75

Ezio Auditore da Firenze is the natural home — his triggered ability creates Assassin tokens and rewards connecting with opponents, and Ramses, Assassin Lord's win condition fires the moment any of that damage closes out a player on your turn.

02
Etrata, Deadly Fugitive

Etrata, Deadly Fugitive

70.9% of decks · synergy 0.69

Etrata, Deadly Fugitive runs a deep Assassin package by design, and Ramses, Assassin Lord plugs in as the lord that makes the whole creature base more threatening while offering an alternate path to victory beyond Etrata's own hit-counter mechanic.

03
Basim Ibn Ishaq

Basim Ibn Ishaq

51.7% of decks · synergy 0.50

Basim Ibn Ishaq cares about Assassins dealing combat damage and going unblocked, which is exactly the condition Ramses, Assassin Lord wants to capitalize on — stack enough evasive Assassins and one lethal swing ends the game outright.

04
Ratonhnhaké꞉ton

Ratonhnhaké꞉ton

38.1% of decks · synergy 0.38

Ratonhnhaké꞉ton incentivizes attacking multiple opponents, and Ramses, Assassin Lord converts that wide pressure into a hard win condition the moment any one of those opponents folds to the damage.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander
legacy
modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Commander is the only format where Ramses, Assassin Lord does anything meaningful — the four-player structure means opponents routinely drop to zero on your turn, and the Assassin tribal support available in black-blue makes the condition achievable. In Legacy and Vintage, where the card is technically legal, a five-mana 5/5 that requires tribal setup and a kill-on-your-turn clause has no competitive role. Oathbreaker is theoretically possible but the same structural problem applies — the format lacks the redundancy to make the win condition consistent without a dedicated Assassin shell.
