Sidisi, Regent of the Mire card art
Sidisi, Regent of the Mire turns any creature sacrifice into a hard-removal spell stapled to a 4/4 body — the instant-speed Edict effect is the whole reason she's here. The cost is six mana, which is real, but pair her with Thornbite Staff for recursive tap-kill loops or slot her into a Zul Ashur, Lich Lord shell and she starts taking over tables.

Zul Ashur, Lich Lord wants to sacrifice Zombies repeatedly, and Sidisi, Regent of the Mire converts each of those sacrifices into a removal trigger — one in five Zul Ashur decks already runs her for exactly that reason.

Commander is where Sidisi, Regent of the Mire earns her keep — six mana is acceptable in a 40-life singleton format, and targeted removal that also demands a sacrifice from the controller dodges the indestructible and hexproof that make conventional removal look bad. In competitive 60-card formats like Pioneer, Modern, and Legacy she's effectively unplayable: the mana cost is prohibitive and edict effects at sorcery speed don't come close to cutting it at those power levels. Standard-legal at printing, she's too slow for that environment too. Oathbreaker can put her in the 58, but she's background support there at best.
