Sicken slaps a creature with -1/-1 until end of turn and leaves a -1/-1 counter on it permanently for one black mana — two layers of debuff on one card. It's narrow removal-adjacent tech that earns a slot only in decks that actively exploit -1/-1 counters; everywhere else, it's outclassed.

In Commander, Sicken is fringe: the -1/-1 counter synergy has to be the whole point of your deck for this to make the 99, and even then you're competing with cheaper or more impactful counter-spreaders. In Pauper it sees no meaningful play — the format has better one-mana interaction that doesn't require a counter-synergy payoff to justify itself. Legacy and Vintage are theoretically legal homes, but no competitive shell there wants Sicken when Fatal Push and Dismember exist. The card lives and dies in casual -1/-1 counter builds, full stop.
