In Commander, Shrapnel Slinger earns a slot in artifact sacrifice shells — think Breya, Etherium Shaper or Feldon of the Third Path builds that generate disposable artifact tokens and want a damage outlet that doubles as a win condition. Pauper is where Shrapnel Slinger sees its most competitive play, slotting into Goblin and artifact synergy lists that can reliably feed it cheap fodder. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too low-impact to compete, where dedicated artifact payoffs have much higher ceilings.
