Shadows' Verdict card art
Shadows' Verdict exiles all creatures and planeswalkers with mana value 3 or less — hitting most mana dorks, early threats, and the majority of commander value pieces in one shot for five mana. It's narrow enough to be cuttable in fast metas but devastating against creature-based go-wide and Aristocrats strategies.

In Commander, Shadows' Verdict fills a specific niche: it clears out the low-curve clutter that typical board wipes like Wrath of God leave alive, making it a sideboard-style answer for pods leaning on mana dorks, token generators, or Stax pieces in the 1–3 mana value range. It doesn't replace a full wipe, but as a second or third removal spell it punishes the strategies that go wide with cheap bodies. In competitive non-rotating formats like Legacy and Vintage, the five-mana cost is a near-disqualifying liability — those formats kill before you reach that threshold, and cheaper targeted removal does the job at a fraction of the cost. Modern and Pioneer are similarly unforgiving; Shadows' Verdict sees essentially no play there.
