Selesnya Eulogist card art
Selesnya Eulogist turns every creature death into a 1/1 token — immediate, repeatable value stapled to a two-mana body. The cost is that it only triggers on opponents' creatures dying, so symmetrical board wipes and sacrifice-heavy metas make it shine while slower tables leave it underperforming. Ghired, Conclave Exile decks want it badly since those tokens feed directly into his populate engine.

Ghired, Conclave Exile populates on attack, and Selesnya Eulogist fills the board with token fodder every time combat or a wipe clears opponents' creatures — free populate targets without spending a card.

Selesnya Eulogist is a Commander card through and through — the multiplayer table means three opponents' creatures are dying constantly, turning a marginal two-drop into a token engine over the course of a game. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, it never sees play: two mana for a 1/1 that only triggers on opponents' creatures is far too slow against the threat density of those formats. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's multiplayer texture that the card is at least functional there, though the smaller deck size and faster games compress the window for it to generate meaningful value.

Price Context

Current price

$0.35 bulk tier

At $0.35, Selesnya Eulogist is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bulk bin without thinking twice. Bulk rares and uncommons with narrow Commander applications rarely appreciate, so treat this as a pure utility pickup rather than anything to hold.
