Sejiri Refuge enters tapped and gains you 1 life — a small payoff for a real cost, since you're trading a full turn of mana for a land that does almost nothing on arrival. The exception is Will, Scion of Peace, whose cost-reduction engine makes that 1 life meaningful enough to justify the slot.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Will, Scion of Peace
Will, Scion of Peace reduces spell costs by 1 for each life gained in a turn, so Sejiri Refuge's enters-tapped downside is partially offset by the fact that it's quietly fueling your engine every time it hits play.

Kangee, Sky Warden
Kangee, Sky Warden runs a Azorius lifegain-matters subtheme, and Sejiri Refuge is an on-color dual that slots into that gameplan without taking up a spell slot.

Ranar the Ever-Watchful
Ranar the Ever-Watchful decks lean on foretell and phasing effects in white-blue, and Sejiri Refuge provides the color fixing those two-pip spells demand while contributing a trickle of life to sustain through the late game.

Hope Estheim
Hope Estheim's broad lifegain synergy means every point counts, and Sejiri Refuge is one of the cheapest ways to pad that total on a land that also fixes mana.

Sejiri Refuge is a Commander staple in its niche — it shows up almost exclusively in decks that care about incremental life gain, particularly Azorius builds where the color fixing is worth accepting the enter-tapped penalty. In Legacy and Vintage it's functionally unplayable; those formats punish tapped lands with extreme prejudice and the 1-life rider doesn't come close to compensating. Modern is legal but similarly hostile — fetch-shock manabases make Sejiri Refuge look like a draft leftover. Commander is the one place the card earns its keep, and even there it's a role-player, not a staple.

Price Context
Current price
$0.77 bulk tier
At $0.77, Sejiri Refuge sits firmly in bulk territory and is unlikely to climb — it's a utility land with a narrow home and no competitive demand pressuring the price upward. Grab it if the deck calls for it; don't think twice about the cost.
