Samite Blessing lets a creature redirect damage dealt to other creatures or players onto itself — a defensive enchantment that turns one blocker into a damage sponge for the whole board. The catch is that Warchanter Skald does something actively offensive for the same mana investment, which is the baseline Samite Blessing has to beat and doesn't.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Samite Blessing is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, damage redirection is a narrow defensive axis — it doesn't answer spells, doesn't generate card advantage, and folds to the format's abundance of exile and non-damage removal. Pauper is its most plausible home given the format's limited card pool, but even there the effect is too reactive and conditional to earn a slot. Samite Blessing is a bulk curiosity, not a format player.

$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Samite Blessing sits firmly in bulk territory — the price reflects its near-zero competitive demand across every legal format. Don't expect movement; cards with this narrow a use case don't appreciate without a sudden rules interaction or combo discovery, and neither is on the horizon here.
