Sage's Reverie draws you cards equal to the number of Auras you control when it resolves, then sticks around as one itself — in a loaded enchantress board, that's often four or five cards for four mana. Outside of dedicated Aura strategies, it's too conditional to bother, but Bruna, Light of Alabaster makes every Aura matter, so there it's a slam include.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Bruna, Light of Alabaster attacks and absorbs every Aura in sight, so Sage's Reverie routinely replaces itself several times over before Bruna even connects — it's both fuel and payoff in the same card.

Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice
Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice chains Auras onto the battlefield at a rate that makes Sage's Reverie a reliable four- or five-card refuel, and the draw trigger happens the moment it enters, before any removal can blank it.

Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor
Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor builds wide Aura boards around a single protected creature, and Sage's Reverie converts that density directly into card advantage without requiring any additional setup.

Killian, Decisive Mentor
Killian, Decisive Mentor cuts the cost of Aura spells across the board, meaning Sage's Reverie lands in a denser-than-usual enchantment spread and frequently draws three or more cards for what amounts to a discounted four-drop.

Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ
Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ rewards stacking Auras on creatures with anthem and draw effects, and Sage's Reverie slots in as a midgame reload that gets stronger the further ahead the board state already is.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Sage's Reverie is a Commander card through and through — the format's longer games and larger boards are exactly where a conditional draw spell that scales with Aura count pays off. In Modern and Pioneer, four mana is a steep ask for a draw spell that reads as 'draw zero to two cards' if your Aura creatures keep dying to interaction, and dedicated Bogles-style lists generally prefer cantripping Auras over standalone spells. Legacy has enough raw card-draw efficiency that Sage's Reverie never competes. Oathbreaker gives it a second home if the planeswalker at the helm supports an Aura theme, but the sweet spot remains Commander, where Bruna, Light of Alabaster and Light-Paws decks reliably draw four-plus cards off a single copy.

Price Context
Current price
$0.89 bulk tier
At $0.89, Sage's Reverie is bulk — it costs next to nothing for a card that draws three to five in the decks that actually want it. That price is stable; it sees narrow but consistent demand in Aura-heavy Commander builds, so it's not going lower.
