Sage of Mysteries card art
Sage of Mysteries mills two cards per enchantment that enters attached to a creature you control — in the right shell, that triggers four or five times a turn. The cost is real: it does nothing without an aura-heavy gameplan, and Bruna, Light of Alabaster decks are essentially the only home where it earns a slot, though Mirrormade can double up the trigger engine if you need redundancy.

Bruna, Light of Alabaster

16.1% of decks · synergy 0.16

Bruna, Light of Alabaster attaches auras en masse from graveyard and hand during combat, turning Sage of Mysteries into a mini-mill engine that fires repeatedly on a single attack step — the synergy is direct enough that Sage shows up in roughly one in six Bruna builds.

Sage of Mysteries is a Commander card front to back — the payoff scales with the number of enchantments entering the battlefield in a single turn, which aura-voltron strategies in a 100-card singleton format can reliably manufacture. In competitive Constructed formats like Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy it is simply outclassed: dedicated mill decks have faster, unconditional options, and aura-centric decks in those formats are not trying to win through milling. The card is legal in Oathbreaker, where a Bruna-adjacent build could theoretically port the engine, but the 20-life starting total makes milling a slower path to victory. Unless you're building enchantress or aura-voltron in Commander, Sage of Mysteries doesn't have a home.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Sage of Mysteries is deep bulk — a throw-in in any trade binder. It's a narrow card with a narrow audience, so don't expect demand to push the price anywhere meaningful; pick it up for a quarter and don't look back.
