Séance
Enchantment
At the beginning of each upkeep, you may exile target creature card from your graveyard. If you do, create a token that's a copy of that card, except it's a Spirit in addition to its other types. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.

Séance gives you a token copy of any creature in your graveyard at the beginning of each upkeep — including your opponents' — then exiles that token at end of turn, which is a real and repeatable effect stapled to a permanent that just sits there. The cost is that the copies vanish and the originals stay in the graveyard, so you're farming ETB triggers and combat, not rebuilding a board state.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Séance rewards dedicated graveyard and ETB decks that want a slow, repeatable value engine on an enchantment — it's not a staple, but in the right shell it generates a trigger every single upkeep around the table. Legacy and Vintage are legal but uninterested; the format speed and competition for four-mana enchantment slots make Séance a non-starter in those environments. Modern can technically run it, but the same logic applies — four mana for a delayed, conditional token is too slow against a field with better graveyard payoffs. Séance's real home is casual Commander, where the game goes long enough for the cumulative advantage to matter.

Price Context
Current price
$0.39 bulk tier
At $0.39, Séance sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bulk bin. Price stability is essentially guaranteed at this floor; there's no speculative upside, but you're also never overpaying for what is, at its ceiling, a niche Commander enchantment.
