In Commander, Rune of Protection: Artifacts is a fringe sideboard-style inclusion that rewards metagame reads — decks staring down Breya, Etherium Sculptor artifact storm, or Arcbound Ravager-style aggro can extract real value from the cycling ability alone if the protection never triggers. Legacy and Vintage both have access to it, but dedicated artifact hate like Null Rod or Stony Silence does more work at the same or lower cost, so Rune of Protection: Artifacts sees essentially no competitive play there. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: situationally correct, rarely correct enough to maindeck.
