Roving Harper returns a creature you control to your hand at the end of combat — free value every turn in decks that want to replay ETB triggers or dodge removal. The cost is a 1/2 body for three mana, which is bad rate unless the engine justifies it, and Preston, the Vanisher makes that math work by generating a Rabbit token every time a nontoken creature phases out or bounces.

Preston, the Vanisher
Roving Harper's end-of-combat bounce triggers Preston, the Vanisher's token generation on a loop — pick up any nontoken creature after attacks and Preston makes a Rabbit, turning a mediocre 1/2 into a repeatable engine piece.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Roving Harper is a Commander card almost exclusively — the effect is too slow and the body too weak for Legacy or Vintage, where it's technically legal but irrelevant. Pauper is the one non-Commander format where a repeatable bounce effect could theoretically matter, but a 1/2 for three with no immediate impact doesn't clear the bar there either. In Commander, it earns its slot only in decks that generate strong value from replaying ETBs or need a low-friction bounce engine attached to a creature rather than a spell.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Roving Harper is pure bulk — no financial risk to picking up a copy. That price is unlikely to move unless a new commander dramatically expands the pool of decks that want repeatable creature bounce on a stick.
