Roaring Primadox puts a 4/4 body on the board for four mana, then makes you return a creature to your hand at the start of each upkeep — a punishing drawback unless you're building around it. In a deck that wants to replay enters-the-battlefield triggers, that bounce cost becomes an engine; everywhere else, it's a worse Sandsteppe Mastodon.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Roaring Primadox is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Modern and Pioneer, a four-mana 4/4 with a mandatory self-bounce drawback is nowhere near rate — there are simply better bodies at every point on the curve. Commander is where Roaring Primadox has its only real home, specifically in decks that abuse enters-the-battlefield triggers repeatedly, turning the upkeep bounce from a liability into a feature. Outside of that narrow archetype, it doesn't make the cut in any format.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Roaring Primadox is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box rather than buy. There's no meaningful price floor to hold here, and demand is too narrow to expect movement in either direction.
