Rivalry turns every land drop any opponent makes into a free land drop for you — the more players at the table, the more value it generates passively. At three mana with no ongoing cost, it's one of the cleanest catch-up enchantments red has ever gotten in Commander.

Rivalry is a Commander card through and through — in a four-player game, you're triggering it up to three times per round on opponents' turns, which means you can realistically pull even with or ahead of ramp-heavy decks without spending additional resources. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but irrelevant; those formats are decided before anyone is making their fourth or fifth land drop, and the effect doesn't generate tempo fast enough to matter. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer structure, so the same math applies at a smaller table.
