Ritual of Subdual locks every land on the board into producing only colorless mana — for six mana, you shut down every colored spell your opponents want to cast. It's a prison piece that wins on the spot in the right shell and does nothing in the wrong one.

Ritual of Subdual is a Commander card through and through — the political weight of a table-wide color lock matters far more in multiplayer than in any 1v1 setting. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, six mana for a do-nothing-until-your-next-turn enchantment is unplayable; those formats kill you before it resolves. In Commander, it slots into green stax and land-hate strategies that can already generate colorless mana or have built around artifact acceleration, so the symmetry is largely one-sided. The six-mana investment is steep but acceptable when your commander or win condition doesn't need colored mana to close the game.
