Rhystic Circle lets you pay W to prevent all damage from a single source to you and your creatures — a repeatable fog effect that taxes opponents every time they swing. The catch is the mana investment: holding up W every attack step gets expensive fast, and in a four-player game this rarely scales well enough to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Rhystic Circle is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, the format where it has the most theoretical home, repeatable damage prevention sounds appealing but the W-per-source cost collapses against multiple attackers in a multiplayer game. Pauper is the one format where creature-based aggro is concentrated enough that a cheap enchantment with this effect might get a second look, but even there, one-mana instant-speed fog effects do the job more efficiently. Legacy and Vintage move too fast for a do-nothing four-mana enchantment to matter.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Rhystic Circle is deep bulk — you're not buying it for value, you're buying it because you specifically want this effect. There's no meaningful price floor to fall through, so treat it as a throwaway include rather than anything worth tracking.
